Hello, I'm Mai Nong (Mia). I'm a second-year Master's student at Central European University (Vienna, Austria), majoring in Social Data Science. My expertise includes machine learning, graph neural networks, network science, time series forecasting, and natural language processing. Check out my CV here!
I believe in the power of data in assisting business leaders to make informed, data-driven decisions. But data itself does not tell the story; it needs interpretation, analysis, and synthesis to truly shine. LEARN MOREI discovered esports during the freshman year when I started playing League of Legends and watching tournaments. I made a lot of new friends from all across the world through playing video games and before I realized it, esports became part of my identity. But it wasn't until my first research paper that I realized that how much research potential esports and esports analytics have. And that first research paper was the start of everything that follows, from the presentations on AI and ML applications in esports analytics, to essays on how a meme took over the gaming community.
To some people, League is just a game. To me, it was what kept me interested and motivated classes after classes, assignments after assignments and is what first comes to my mind when someone asks "What do you see yourself doing in the next 5 to 10 years?".

Since 2023, I took up a new hobby of taking walking trips around the city on weekends to explore the hidden gems. It helps keeping me in shape and my mind at ease after a stressful week of work/study. Keep an eye out for updates on my social media!
